A: No. Most likely, you will receive a different piece of work by a different artist each month.
A: No, you can’t pick an artist. No, you can’t pick a particular piece. Yes, you can tell us what mediums you prefer and give us three adjectives to describe your art taste. We try our best to accommodate subscriber preferences in mediums. You can choose from painting, printmaking, photography, mixed media, watercolor, drawing, collage, ceramic, and sculpture. Just send us an email after your payment and let us know what mediums you like or dislike.
A: Art is subjective and although we believe that all the artwork we send out is great, we don’t expect everyone to like everything they receive. Even if you do not like something, the amount of money spent on Art in a Box is so minimal, your subscription will be well worth your money spent.
A:You must subscribe to a minimum of three months, but you can subscribe to as many months as you like up to a year. Subscriptions are paid in full, not in installments. There are no hidden fees.
A: No problem. Select the shipping subscription ($50 a month) which includes shipping for all states in the U.S.A. No additional cost for Canadian orders. For all other international orders (outside of Canada) an additional $10-$15 (USD) will be added for each month of your subscription. Please contact us for details.

A: You can subscribe at $40 a month and pick up your Art in a Box on the second weekend of each month at The Compound Gallery in Oakland, CA during normal business hours (Thur-Sun 12-6pm). The address is 1167 65th st, Oakland, CA 94608. We send email reminders and hold boxes until you are able to pick up your box.
A: Yes! In fact, Art in a Box makes a wonderful gift for anniversaries, weddings, birthdays, housewarming gifts, etc. Just let us know that you are subscribing for someone in the notes/comments section during checkout or send us an email afterward checkout (Send us an email at: info@thecompoundgallery.com) and we will send a lovely gift card that lets your loved one know he/she will be receiving Art in a Box. You can choose pick up ($40/month) or delivery ($50/month).
A: Yes, you may begin your subscription at anytime. All boxes are ready around the second weekend of each month. Your first box will be ready whenever the second weekend of the month arrives.
A: No. If you are going to be away or would like to skip a month, you may do so. You can also choose to receive your boxes every other month, quarterly, etc.
A: Only if you reside in California. A tax of 9.75% will be added to your final purchase at checkout.
A: Easy. Just go to our Art Shoppe to directly buy art even without a subscription.
A: We randomly choose boxes to receive small surprises each month. Your box could be next!
A: We send a monthly email newsletter that gives you all the exclusive scoop, featured artist exhibits, and such. Of course, you can always opt out if you do not want to receive the newsletter.
A: Yes! Our page titled “The Experience” is exclusively for Art in a Box subscribers to post quotes and testimonials.We appreciate all feedback at info@thecompoundgallery.com and we will post it. You can also post and join our Flickr group titled “Art in a Box.”
A: Yes. We send a confirmation email for all orders within 24 hours of purchase. Please check your spam folder in case our emails have landed there.
